Physio Fitness Dorset
Sports injury specialists
Lead Physiotherapist and Managing Director
Dave set up Physiofitness in 2010 after working full time in professional football with AFC Bournemouth and the England Under 18's. Dave saw there was a clear need for high quality sports physiotherapy treatment available to everyone. Since Physiofitness' inception Dave has treated many elite sports individuals such as Geeva Mentor (England Netball), Mark Blundell (Formula One) and Bob Wilson (Ex Arsenal GK) as well as hundreds of amateur and semi professional athletes.
As well as running Physiofitness Dave is head of education for Hypervibe UK, teaching health professionals about the benefits of vibration therapy. Most recently this has included educating the medical team at Manchester United FC on how Hypervibe can help improve injuries and performance.
" We all very much believe in a hands on physiotherapy approach, through years of experience we know what works best for individuals, taking into account their injury, the background of why it happened and what they want to return to. We return patients back to their chosen activity fitter, stronger and less likely to sustain injury than they were previously."
Senior Physiotherapist and Company Director
Tom also started his physiotherapy career in professional football, first with AFC Bournemouth and then Notts County FC. Tom then relocated to Greece where he was treating athletes in watersports pursuits such as sailing and windsurfing. On return to the UK Tom joined up with PhysioFitness and believed strongly in its business aim which led him to join Dave as a Director.
Now Tom splits his time between predominately working at the clinic but also supporting the Wales Mens Hockey Squad, ranked at an all time best of 18th in the world and competing in the top tier of European Hockey. Tom attends regular training camps in Cardiff and travels with the squad for all competitions which in recent years has included competing in Kuala Lumpur, Antwerp and Helsinki.
" We have all been involved with professional elite sport and know both the commitments required and the limitations. We are always looking for innovative ways of treating and constantly stay up to date with the latest medical advances. We provide anyone that comes to the clinic access to the same level of care and a treatment approach that a professional athlete would receive. There is nothing better than getting someone who can't do what they love back to it, whether that be gentle exercise a couple times a week or international competition. "
Graduate Sports Therapist and Team England Volleyball player
Jess originally came to Physiofitness as a patient following shoulder surgery due to repetitive use in volleyball. This lead her to complete a period of rehabilitation with Dave. Having attended Bath University Jess qualified as a Sports Therapist and when having her treatment with Dave she was impressed about the vision of Physiofitness and the service they were providing for athletes and wanted to become part of it.
Jess competes in Beach Volleyball for Team England worldwide and understands to commitments required of sportsmen and women which helps her to relate to their treatment. She provides both soft tissue work and injury assessment and treatment
" As well as treating injuries and returning people to sport we place a big emphasis on keeping athletes performing at their best through regular manitaince and injury prevention sessions. We understand each patients individual situation and what they require from their body and work with them to help them achieve their goals."
PhysioFitness Clinic Manager
Gill also first came to PhysioFitness as a patient, when the company expanded to the Parley location it was vital there was someone to head up the administration side of the business.
With a previous background in managerial and admin roles and a keen interest with health and fitness Gill was the perfect fit. Her job is to keep the clinic running smoothly day to day, looking after all the staff and patients that come through the door.
" The clinic is set in such great surroundings, patients mention how they instantly feel relaxed driving in. We have created a friendly, non intimidating environment for treatment where patients not only come by themselves but bring family members who can walk around the grounds or sit and have a coffee and make the whole process of coming to the physiotherapist an enjoyable (albeit sometimes painful) experience!"
Clinic Lead for Administration
The longest serving member of the PhysioFitness team Viv has been with Dave from the humble beginnings. From renting solo rooms to the wonderful clinic we now have, Viv has seen it all! Viv is in charge of the clinic administration and book keeping helping keep us on the straight and narrow.
" The whole team are fantastic to work with, having been here from the start I know Dave has always had a vision and dedication of where he wants the business to go. Although that is constantly changing it has been great to personally see the progress made. Dave and Tom are passionate about offering the best service they can and that transmits over to every aspect of the business."

"We give patients strategies to help maintain their fitness throughout injury. If we can keep patients doing the sport they love alongside their treatment then we will, providing them the appropriate modifications. Once we feel they are ready to return to activity fully, we work out the steps needed to regain fitness, transitioning from Physio to Fitness, hence the name!"
