Luisa Calvert
Graduate Sports Therapist
Lead Therapist Bournemouth Rugby Club
Luisa splits her time between clinic hours and leading our therapy cover of Bournemouth Rugby Club. She is pitchside for all games and training sessions travelling around the country as an essential member of the coaching staff as well as hugely valued member of our clinic team.
Luisa initially started with us as a receptionist at a practice we had in Verwood back in 2015. She went on to study at Chichester and regularly came back to learn with us as a student.
From her studies Luisa developed an interest in spinal cord injuries and was able to work with the British Army delivering rehabilitation sessions. During this, she spent a lot of time working with exo-skeletons and focusing on walking gait.
Luisa then had the opportunity to work at Edinburgh Rugby Club. During this she worked within the medical team to rehabilitate players back to selection. Whilst at Edinburgh Luisa joined the medical team for both the Men’s and Women’s Scottish National rugby team. Helping them during the Autumn Internationals and Six Nations. Following this when we had the offer for Luisa to work with us full time partly in rugby and partly clinical she jumped at the chance.
Away from assisting athletes Luisa is a competent one herself! Competing in gymnastics internationally, she now trains in CrossFit and tries to practice what she preaches: people should be strong and mobile. When she gets the chance she enjoys anything full of adrenaline!
